Gone glamping

I’ve been jonesing to go camping for a while now. It’s one of my most favorite activities. Alas, on the days I have the kiddo to myself, it’s been too cold and rainy to go, and let’s not forget the fact that we’re supposed to be staying away from other people. So, what’s a girl to do? Go camping in the living room of course!

I stood in the living room, surveying the layout to figure out how I could make this happen in such a small space. Kiddo was lounging on the couch in her pink princess dress, watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I smiled, sneaked up behind her and moved the couch a liiitttle bit backwards.

“MOMMA! Did you just make the couch move?” she asked, startled.

“Noooo…. I don’t know what happened. Are you sure it moved?”

“YES! The couch moved. I’m trying to watch Mickey Mouse.”

With that, she turned back toward the TV. I moved to the other side of the couch and pulled it back again.

“MOMMA! You’re making the couch move! Stop it!” she snipped.

“I swear, Baby. I didn’t move the couch. Maybe you tooted really big and that moved the couch.”

I snickered and left the room to gather everything I needed and came back with an arm load of blankets and pillows only to met with my child staring at me with the most serious look on her face.

“Momma… I farted, and the couch didn’t move. What’s happening?”

After catching my breath from laughing, I came clean and explained what we were going to do for the night. She lit up with excitement and ran to grab more blankets and pillows from her room.

I moved the couch back to the wall of our main entrance and set up the tent. In total, we had five blankets lining the floor of the tent and a uncountable mass of pillows and stuffed animals just for the heck of it.

Inside, we read stories, played games, and watched a few shows on Disney+.

She loved it so much, we left the tent up so we could sleep in it for a second night.
